The painter Pham Luc was born in Hue in Central Vietnam in 1943. He graduated from the Hanoi College of Fine Arts and was during the Vietnam War in the art school of the army.

His paintings, which mainly consist of depictions of the everyday life of the people in the countryside - scenes in the market, in the rice harvest or in fishing - reflect the speed with which he works. In contrast to his lacquer work, which takes quite a long time due to the elaborate technique, he works very expressively on his paper and silk gauze pictures.

Since 1977 Pham Luc had numerous exhibitions in Vietnam, Russia, Japan, France, Italy, Australia, Malaysia and Germany.

In 1995, his paintings were shown for the first time in Germany as part of the exhibition project GAP GO at the Galerie Querformat in Berlin-Schöneberg. In 1998, Pham Luc, together with the artist Le Quang Ha, a representative of the younger generation of Vietnamese painters, had an exhibition at the UN Gallery in Bonn.

He is a member of the Vietnamese Artists' Association and is one of the most famous artists of his generation in Vietnam. His works are in the collection of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum and in numerous private collections.
